Suffocation

I edit and choke on the hope
This story imbued. A few
Months ago I knew who my
Bride would be, but today, I can’t breathe.

Hand trembles splashing
My sign of love with ink,
Remembering all what was
As my throat constricts.

I have no appetite,
Moving on little sleep,
Sullen eyes work over
Faulty manuscript, trying to keep it dry.

But for now, perhaps forever,
This is how it must be.
